Hookers Hunted in A.C. & U.K.

Sex sells -- and sometimes, it seems, it leads to murder. We're triple-stocked today with stories about hookers and the creepy men who love them .... or covet them in a "Jack the Ripper" sort of way.

With Atlantic City still reeling from the recent murders of four women -- three of whom were selling their flesh on the street -- Philly Confidential's Simone Weichselbaum spent several soggy days in A.C., getting the ho-down low-down on prostitution's class system. The story is loaded with incredible detail and enhanced by wonderful hooker quotes. My personal favorite, though, came from Heaven, a mid-level prostitute Simon shadowed. Sayeth Heaven: "I'm a ho. I'm not that different. But I'm not a crackhead ho," Heaven said. "So I'm not that bad." Geeze, Heaven! Crackhead Ho's have feelings too. Hmmppff.

The Inky's George Anastasia, meanwhile, turned in a piece on a hooker who thinks she might have met the sinister killer: a white guy with greasy hair and a beard. That's right -- we're coming after you, Jim Morrison! You can't hide on Elvis Island forever!!!!

Lastly, we turn our gaze across the pond to Ipswich, England, where a lunatic has killed at least three hookers, maybe more. "We have got three prostitutes murdered, now possibly another two. I do not know what stronger warning there can be to get off the streets as soon as possible," said one Ipswich police official.

But the tragic stories surrounding the sex trade don't end here; tomorrow, the People Paper will feature another take on last week's sad suicide/attempted murder at Cheerleaders Gentleman's Club in South Philly.

Be safe out there, everybody.
