OK -- enough of the heavy stuff. It's time to get back to a simple pleasure that we used to enjoy so frequently on this blog: reviewing the whacky stuff that goes on in this crazy of world of ours. Let the looney tour begin!

Iowa Produces World's First $800K Idiot. Des Moines resident Ed O'Neill bought a powerball ticket on Jan. 6 and just now remembered to check it. Turns out he won $800,000. Ed: "I thought, 'Gee, I better look at my ticket.' That's when I said, 'I think I won.'" And the stupid shall inherit the earth.

South St. Vendors Shocked by Pot. The DN's own Christine Olley reports that $90,000 worth of marijuana was delivered to the Fusion jean boutique on Saturday. Cue unintentional comedy skit: "It was obviously intended for someone in the Philadelphia area," said Narcotics Capt. Chris Werner. "We are trying to find out who."

The manager said employees were discussing lots of theories but no one really knew why their store received the illegal drugs. That's right, guys. No one knows why the marijuana is there. Wink, wink, nod, nod.

Beaver Returns to New York City after 200 Years. High school students everywhere salute the AP for coming up with the Headline of the Year. Incidentally, they were serious about the beaver. Beavers. Whatever.

Someone should Tell this Guy about New York City. A 107-year-old Hong Kong man credits his long, healthy life to having spent the past 70-some years sex-free. Sadly, his three best friends lost the bet and died 68 years ago.

Ain't That America? A group of U.S. tourists on a cruise ship vacation killed a Costa Rican mugger when he pulled a gun on them in a port. Well, precisely, they broke his neck. Said a regional police official: "His neck was completely snapped." By the way, I'm not knocking the U.S. tourists. I'm just sayin' is all.

Just What the Doctor Ordered. What obesity problem? A Clearfield, Pa. restaurant -- well, maybe "restaurant" is stretching a bit here ..... Denny's Beer Barrel Pub, of Clearfield, Pa., has successfully created a 123-pound hamburger that costs a smidgen more than anything on McDonald's dollar menu. The burger is said to have a target audience of mutantly large people, including Paul Bunyan and Bob's Big Boy. Said Bunyan when reached by phone: "Jesus Christ, that is a lot of meat!"
