Stop Snitchin' -- The New Imus? Pt. II

We just found this on celebrity gossip blog TMZ and we had to share it with you:

Bling-clown Cam'ron, the obnoxious Harlem-based rapper who starred in the Anderson Cooper Snitchin' report, issued a statement Thursday apologizing for his comments on the program.

PC assumes that the popularity of the Cooper report, coincided with the post-Imus backlash against hip-hop, pressured Cam'ron's "people" to rush out a statement recanting his on-record filmed interview.

Cam'ron was shot in Washington D.C. in 2005 and told Cooper that he refused to talk to police. He explained himself to Cooper saying "because with the type of business I'm in, it would definitely hurt my business. And the way that I was raised, I just don't do that. I was raised differently, not to tell."

While Cam'ron, and the rest of his boorish counterparts, are revered on BET and lionized on hip-hop radio stations around the world, it was nice to see the glamorized thug bow down to CNN.

This is an excerpt of his statement:
"Looking back now, I can see how those comments could be viewed as offensive, especially to those who have suffered their own personal tragedies or to those who put their lives on the line to protect our citizens from crime," the rap star said in a statement issued today.

Please join Philly Confidential, to cross your fingers during the next few weeks, and hope that other networks pick up on the Snitchin' story . It seems that big media can dent, maybe even collapse, the Stop Snitchin' crisis that has infected urban America.

We as viewers, listeners, and readers need to continue debating this issue and keep it on the front-burner so Cooper and his media friends stay interested.

Just like Imus paid for his choice of words so should the clowns who have spent nearly a generation propagating everything evil in urban America—violence, materialism, and self-hate.

Do you know what's worse than racism?
Destruction from within.

Cam'ron isn't sorry. CNN/Turner has so much weight in the media that Cam'ron's agent told him to apologize or be black listed.

Back to Snitching... isn't it simply the obstruction of justice? And, those supporting it, supporting the obstruction of justice?

jim crow:

Bill o'reillys been reporting on it, long before your pretty boy liberal hero a.c even heard of it.I hope nutter gets elected so the cops can stop and frisk all these stop snitchin {black people}a holes.

mike:

Who really snitches? We have a code of blue also dont we? Where is the push for this organization to start "snitchin". Blacks have been slowly birthed into this situation of not trusting not only the supposed "helpers" but those in our own communities. Black communities have been infiltrated with the sole purpose of disruption, self abasement and in-fighting. Im sure most of you will say this is in the past, but the ramifications live on. I'm all for blacks to start snitchin. Let's start with Condoleeza Rice.

DRAFT CONDI O8"
Its ignorant ass black boys like you who think condi is the problem.Shes secretary of state if more blacks idolized her instead of blaming whitey.Maybe someone would give a shit when there murdered.

Beth martin:

Its a shame all this violence over drugs. One of my neighbors was just killed when a fleeing drug suspect killed her.I know this sounds defeatful but i wonder if someoned asked the question if drugs were legal, like alcohol you wouldnt be able to drive on it, how many lives would be saved. We should try it for a month and see how many lives it would save.Instead of surveilance cameras were people could just simply move.

Mimi:

Families are being destroyed. An entire generation of blacks is being annihilated.
It is very obvious that, while this clown survived being shot, he has never experienced the devistation of losing a loved one to senseless violence. The further pain that comes with helplessness when no one will step forward and do the right thing is nearly unbearable to the survivors. Cam's never looked into a mother's eyes at her child's funeral. If he had, he would know just how wrong he and those like him are.
You idiots who turn this and any other forum into an exchange of silly oneupmanship in racism are no better.

Let's remember that people who witness murder by hoods in their communities, though wrong for staying silent, are terrified to come forward for a crime that is not federally prosecuted.

The Mayor of Philly, John Street, when pressed by his own DA to step up witness protection funding by a mere $1 million, refused. The clear message Street sent (he of the bug/drug probe) was clear: Philly is a narcopoly, and the drug dealers are extorted by faux community leaders such as Shamsud-din Ali, imam and former murder convict put in charge of the Bureau of Prisons by John Street.

How much more of an outrage does the situation have to be before the press strings the facts of Philly's current administration together?

The story of the blood bath in Killadelphia is the story of black organized crime posing as building the community they destroyed.

Anonymous:

Kabomi Savage, Northington, Dawud Bey, all the playahs that were tied to Shamsud-din Ali by the FBI, are some of the very orchestrators of the worst of Philly's violent headlines.

We would never have cleaned up Chicago gang land violence in the 30s if we never wrote about the name of Al Capone just to avoid getting sued by the political elite.

Why is Fareed Ahmed aka Eugene Hearn suing Kitty Caparella, crime writer of the Daily News? She published his current faux muslim/activist legit name with his birth name on his criminal record: Heroin dealer and extortionist for the Black Mafia.

Fareed Ahmed now makes his living as a "political consultant" who worked on John Street's campaign.

Not rocket science people. RICO, get the big fish, pressure the DA, Mayor, City Council, on specifics, stop sobbing over every sad tale of the little guy who dreams big criminal dreams and the sad pile of teddy bears left by his chalk mark.

What killed the South Philly Italian mafia, arguably less lethal than the current black mafia iteration? Feds, RICO prosecution, going after the top, finding a Previte, witness protection with an almost limitless funding source.

HELOOO philly press out there? Don't be afraid to look to recent history as to how the killing fields of South Philly turned into current day "Bella Vista" (a funny phrase to me still) and "Queen's Village" of million dollar homes.

Now start asking some uncomfortable questions: why are so many dealers in scattered site PHA housing? Odd, isn't it? Why are so few people being housed who need it: homeless, seniors, the disabled, yet you can easily find young thugs dealing out of city held or PHA held properties?

Why does the city own or hold so much property? It creates blight and kills equity. Why does the city give so much property to bad "affordable housing" builders, who hold more than they build and keep the last remaining drug areas while the private market builds around it (Hawthorne)?

Who are these "builders" of not so affordable housing? Why doesn't the RDA take the property back for nonperformance? That is a standard clause that is missing from the contract of certain pro-community, low performing urban renewal groups that have taken millions in HOPE and other public and private redevelopment funds.

How much do their PACs, such as for affordable housing, give and to whom?

Can the state step in, or the federal government, with restrictions on blindly giving property for less than market value to groups that perform badly, have members with felony records, give money to local pols, or in the case with Philly, all of the above?

That is the question that is going to allow neighborhoods to have equity enough to fund police, the DA, and re-entry programs. Why is Hawthorne and 52nd Street so druggy, yet Kenny Gamble owns property there? Odd that someone who is "reinvesting" in the community instead has worsening crime rates, isn't it?

Could it be that the Ink has written for too long from the press release, the ideas, but lacked follow up?

We only have exactly as much crime as we choose to see. Once we look closely, we start to see that these groups have a long history of posing as building the community while they exploit and extort it.

I'd be glad when the crime reporter's refer to their own archives, such as overviewed in Sean Patrick Griffin's excellent "Black Brothers' Inc.: The Violent Rise and Fall of Philadelphia's Black Mafia." He chronicles the infant fake community help groups run by drug gangsters and criminals in the seventies.

Some of those names that occured then are still coming into political and criminal play. The best writers about Philly politics are crime writers.

Go get 'em.

Does anyone ever write anymore about how our mayor was bugged during an FBI drug sting, and all the local Dems bustled to cover for him, and now Philly's got a murder rate again like the raring crack 90s?

The police locally are afraid they might arrest a friend of Street's if they go too far, according to police who I've spoken with.

I can't believe Kabomi Savage had a whole article about his recent court non-appearance with nary a mention of his connection to the bug.

Ron White is dead, and so is any mention of his rainmaking activities with black organized crime.

PCishness or squeamishness is preventing the community from looking into what harbors most of the street violence here -- the lucrative, long reaching, politically active drug trade that is destroying everything it touches.

Lilly:

I have been in position in my past where my life was in danger for "Snitching." I am a white women, and yes I would think twice before I ever get involved in telling on someone committing a crime. But I know in the end if I did not come forward my conscience would eat me alive, as I would be no different then the criminal that committed that crime. I do believe if a person is afraid for coming forward, their names in court should be changed for their protection and their addresses should never be given. If the police need the information then the witness should be moved and protected. It is a sad time we live in these days when one cannot feel free to speak the truth without being scared of what may happen to them or their loved ones because of them being honest. But this was foretold to happen long ago. 2 Timothy 2 1-5

That conspiracy theorist two posts is full of it.During streets administration theyve concentrated only on drug dealers during safe streets they stopped every dealer. The police conviscated more drugs under the street admin than any other admin. You should get your facts straight.

I think thugs killing thugs is the best thing to happen to philthadelphia. There doing the job the cops cant but should do.And im speaking for everyone i know in chester county.

Realist:

Snitching shouldn't be the issue. The issue should be placed on why these crimes get comitted, not the investigational aftermath.

Snitching does not produce crime, a lack of education, employment, and bad moral values does. Until we address those issues, the homicides will not stop.

And the whole "homicides are due to drugs" is complete bullsh!t. These are not drug dealers killing each other over debt and territory. The homicide victims are usually involved in petty disputes and lose their lives over that. The police even admit that much.

plymouth meeting:

I don't think he should have had to apologize for telling the truth. I'm white and I wouldn't snitch to the police. Not because I'm afraid of the criminals, but because the police in our community are too lazy to investigate crime and use intimidation as a substitute for investigative work. I would not want some innocent youth harassed, intimidated, and thrown into jail on fbricated evidence. So, it is easier to ignore crime than to report it. And even if I did report it, they aren't going to do anything. They are only going to help their brothers in blue. I agree, when the police start snitching on each other, maybe, I'll start trusting and respecting them.

philly rez:

I am black and I think people not informing the cops are just s guilty for the crime. Yes the black community does not trust the police but you cannot live in a society without laws and justice. What Pennsylvania should do it form a nice conveyor belt to the electric chair and turn it on and keep it moving. When people become thugs and throw the finger up to society and refuse to contribute to it we should bid them a farewell and not think twice about it. I don’t care about rehabilitation I only care about crime, punishment, and justice. We should start with those who do not snitch and charge them with something. 11 murders over one weekend this is a national emergency. And desperate times call for desperate measures. In all this where in the heck is the governor and why do people keep electing these establishment people to run the government.

Tommo:

Simone - it's perfectly okay to use the King's English. No one thinks your street cred will suffer if you use the word "snitching" instead of the ebonics version - "snitchin". God you're just offensive to me.

To philly rez:

This is NOT an emergency,Criminals dying, this an especially happy time for me,Theyr should be more coverage of heros in iraq dying. You keep saying weres the gov and mayor, what do you want them to do,This crap doesnt go in my HOOD,God helps those who help themselves
