Hey, Onex: What's this all aboot?

And yes, I did type "aboot" up there. It's hard to get Canadian pronounciations to translate in print, but I hope that did the job.

Here's the skinny: Onex Corp., a Toronto investment firm that's bidding to buy the Daily News and Inquirer, plans on slashing the newsroom staffs of both papers if they win the latest round of "Extreme Home Makeover: Knight Ridder Edition."

Blog Legend Will Bunch explains the nuts and bolts of Onex's plan.

Things must different in Canada. Perhaps a small but dedicated band of elves put out the papers up there, without the shackles of a union or any kind of editorial staff.

Well, Onex, consider this your only warning. Stay the hell away from this city. Eh?
