    A STAR IS BORN

Well, at least in Montreal ...

The Montreal Gazette has a story this morning about the newfound celebrity of Tom Kostopoulos, who scored in overtime to win Game 1. Click here

The Gazette also notes some potential lineup changes for Game 2. Coach Guy Carbonneau reportedly was not happy with the fourth line in Game 1, which means he might replace Mathieu Dandenault or Maxim Lapierre. The third member, Mark Streit, is needed on the power play. Carbonneau might also rest defenseman Patrice Brisebois, who scored but was also on the ice for two of the three Flyers goals.

Meanwhile, Flyers coach John Stevens expects his team to be better in Game 2 after putting the disappointment of Game 1 behind them, writes our own Ed Moran. Click here for more.

Should be a fun sports day here in Philly ... Flyers-Montreal Game 2 tonight, NFL draft begins at 3, the Sixers are basking in their Game 3 blowout, and the Phillies have won five of six entering tonight's game in Pittsburgh.

I am just tired of and disappointed that the refs continue to determine the outcome of these playoff games! Hey boys just let the guys who are out there giving their all decide the outcome. Dont make a center ice interference call with 3 minutes to go in a tie game(aka last nights pens-rangers game, nice dive sssssiiiiiddddneyyyyy!). Just like the Flyers game the other night on the richards pen, the play did not directly impact a play a the goal and may not even have been a knee!
i hate Crosbys guts for all his talent he is a diving, whiny little bitch!
    GO FLYERS!!!!

Whats are the chances that someone on the Flyers gets beer tossed at them tonight?

It is becoming a tradition. Must be payback for all the beers dumped on opposing fans at Philly games.

YOU LOVE IT FILLY...BEERS ALL OVER ALL YOUR BOYS!!!!!

    Flers=Beer Trough,
Must be a whiny, loser Caps Fan!!
Theyre just warming us up for when we are celebrating our Stanley Cup victory and we are pouring beer and champagne all over each other!
So dont be bitter beer face bitch, go home and dream of your team getting doused, for it will never happen!!

    Stanley Cup?

You barely got in the playoffs..

uh-oh, a two goal lead. everybody brace for some unanswered MTL goals....

These Versus announcers are terrible. Joe Beninati can't even tell Kukkonen apart from Thoreson. I don't know how the Caps fans stand him as their regular announcer. Really reminds you how lucky we are to have Jim Jackson. I like Jonesy just fine doing color, but Bill Clement is the best color guy in hockey. We've had great announcing on CSN games these playoffs.

Montreal fans are by far the poorest fans in hockey.beer thrown on players, constant boo's during the entire game yes the entire game wow!way to set a great sportsmanship example there for your kids.I only call it like I see it and I see it all the time.now I know why the rest of Canada can't stand them!talk about lacking class.no wonder Danny Briere and Marty Biron didn't want to play there! what a bunch of little bitches!oh yea and lets not forget a couple of years ago when they booed during the playing of the USA national anthem!wow! all I can say is wow!

Flyers up 3-1 going into 3rd. Need to really score some more and not sit on the lead. Let's get a 3 or 4 goal lead, then sit back.

How about Marty channeling Patrick Roy and the Statue of Liberty? Stickin' it to the Montreal faithful...

After all that hype the Habs fans weren't that impressive. Loud, yes. But not hostile.

LOVED that slow-mo fist-pump from Briere.

Dont like losing you le criminals!!! Jump our guys after we obviously are going to win? If we had done something like that we would have been scolded unmercifully!!!We dominated le habs 2 straight games, should be 2-0! Will be 3-1 after some home cooking!!
    GO FLYERS!!!

where are all the caps fans?

The Caps fans are polishing their knuckles, ready to bash your face in next year.

Theres a hypocrit if i ever heard one!!! Flyboys always get criticized for their actions as violent, but how bout that!
Keep up the great play boys, the golden chalace is out there within our grasp! Keep playing with that all-for-one-and-one-for-all mentality. Marty and coach, you guys are starting to make me believe that you can be the starting goalie we need to carry us and the coach that puts together the right gameplan. The last 3 games I have seen the team that I knew we had in talent and is finally showing the heart of a championship team!
    GO FLYERS!!!!

Why was there no blog coverage last night? I really hope that it wasn't due to the NFL draft. If so, this is a sign that we've finally gone off the deep end. Should we cover a bunch of guys sitting at desks, picking 2nd and 3rd string reserves for a season that doesn't begin for another 4 months, or should we cover the most exciting playoff action this city is going to see until (maybe) October?

Great game by Biron. I don't think I'm ready to crown him as the next Bernie Parent or anything, but he has definitely upped his game when it has mattered most. I'm really impressed with how far this team has come in 12 months. At the beginning of the year, I was just hoping for a playoff berth and some growth by the young guys, so to see them competing in the second round, especially when they very easily could have been up 2-0, I'm just thrilled. Hopefully the Flyers can defend home ice and go into the final games of the series with a lead. LET'S GO FLYERS!!!!

The Hockey Gods giveth, and the Hockey Gods taketh away. We outplayed Les Habs in Game 1 but lose and get completely outplayed last night yet win thanks to Marty's awesome performance. Either way, at 1-1 coming home, I like our chances.

And to the genius lamenting the fact that we "barely" made the playoffs, we had the fifth best record in the East and were the sixth seed only because the Caps won a putrid Southeast Division.

Oh yeah, and we're still playing, so get over yourself.

@Ant I think game one the Flyers should have won but had some unlucky calls/events occur. Game 2 it could have gone either way.
Both teams had times where they couldn't get the puck out of the zone but that's going to happen now that there are less teams in the playoffs, it will be tigher hockey. I like the Flyers chances of winning this series, the experts haven't given the Flyers enough credit and I can see how they based their decisions but it's the playoffs and anything can happen.

Wow you flyer fans are stupid. The Habs were dancing circles around the flyers last night. You should all get on your knees and bow to the mighty Biron. The first 2 goals the flyers scored were soft, Price will bounce back. This series maybe goes 6 games but I think the Habs win it in 5.

Seriously. First the caps, now us running circles around your marginal D.

How lucky can your ride be? Time to get the roller coaster.

    Habs 4 games to 1.

Habs suck things. Having a hot goalie is what the playoffs are all about. Idiots.
