Here is tonight's game summary ...
--
R.J. with an empty netter. Wonder how many cars this will cost the Montreal police department.
--
The refs give one back. Danny Briere scores a power-play goal. About 3 minutes left. This is the loudest this place has been all postseason.
--
C'mon, you didn't think this would be easy did you? Marty Biron gives up his first goal in 33 shots. Tomas Plekanec scored it. Saku Koivu followed mere seconds later. Pass the Pepcid AC
--
Steve Begin takes a slapshot to the Thoresen area, but walks off after briefly being shaken up.
--
The Flyers are on the PP after Maxim Lapierre was whistled for a very questionable interference call. He flattened Jason Smith, who had just attempted to play the puck. A goal here would end the game unless Derian Hatcher tried to smear somebody against the glass again.
--
Hartnell goal after Prospal rang the post. Yes, I'll take the credit for waking them up. Guy Carbonneau is looking around for Gump Worsley.
--
Umberger just got flagged for slashing. He's been one of their better penalty killers, so hold on here.
--
That goal really gave the Flyers some life. They are forechecking and more aggressive on offense. Biron continues to stud it up in net. Frustration has to be creeping into the Habs.
--
Umberger goal!
After Biron denied the Habs of a decent chance, Briere's speed created an odd-man rush on the PP. Umberger took a feed and beat Halak shortside.
Jim Dowd just got flagged for hooking. Canadiens on the prowl.
--
The Fyers fail to score on the PP, but put decent pressure on Halak.
--
There goes that line! Briere just drew the Flyers first power play by forcing a holding penalty on Patrice Brisebois.
--
Anybody seen Danny Briere's line? In this series, Briere has one goal, Vinny Prospal one assist and Scott Hartnell nada.
The Flyers have scored first in each of the first three games, but haven't been able to establish any sort of sustained forecheck. They registered just seven shots in the period, including Carter's shorthanded breakaway. Montreal had 14 shots.
Knuble played just 3:32 of the period, Upshall 3:57.
--
The Flyers kill off a boarding call on Mike Richards thanks to Marty Biron. Halak made the biggest save, though. He stopped Jeff Carter on a clean, shorthanded breakaway. The Canadiens are carrying play, but haven't scored ... yet.
--
Mike Knuble's insertion back into the lineup in Steve Downie getting scratched.
Here are the Flyers lines:
Knuble-Jeff Carter-Scottie Upshall
R.J. Umberger-Mike Richards-Joffrey Lupul
Vinny Prospal-Danny Briere-Scott Hartnell
Patrick Thoresen-Jim Dowd-Sami Kapanen
Richards' line will start.

Nothing quite like some additional uneven officiating in that first period. Sure, we're just paranoid.

There's no conspiracy to let the canadiens win. But what there is.. is the flyers carrying around a reputation based on suspensions 6 months ago. one of the big suspension guys isn't even on the team anymore.

flyers look terrible. no energy. no sustained offensive pressure. they better pick it up because winner of this game wins the series.

this reminds me of all those times the flyers and devils played in the playoffs several years ago. except the flyers are now the devils. back then the flyers always used to play real well, but couldn't get anything by brodeur. then the devils would end up with a scoring chance down the other end and bury it. now it's the flyers doing that.

Wow! Just wow. This brings back memories of watching the Flyers run back in 1987.

Bob, I was thinking the exact same thing after the Hartnell goal when Vs. showed the shot count at 27-14 or whatever it was at that point.

The silence from the Habs fans that inhabit this blog is deafening.
Way to go, Flyers!

Where are all the Canadiens fans and Crapitals fans now? Looks like Montreal is capabale as well of taking a bad penalty at the worst possible time. Wonder if Begin plays next game, and who plays in net in Game 5, Halak, or back to Ken Dryden Jr.? And Gay Carbonneau was just named as a finalist for coach of the year today, haha.
GO FLYERS!!!!

Mmmmmhhh... feels good. I think the Flyers seemed to come into their own in the Second & Third. Montreal looked like they were just coasting in the third till they hit that first goal on Biron. Then we get saved by a powerplay. Guy was complaining about the call. Dear lord the irony... I think there were some minor non-calls at the beginning but all in all I felt better about the officiating in this game. Crazy thing is we're a broken stick away from sweeping. Let's not get complacent Guys, I'm buying Pepto by the truckload now, I don't need any more drama. =)
Go Flyers!

I had made comments earlier in the week about Biron, and I told some friends that Biron was going to be the difference in this series and he's proved me right!!!
Biron has been what all us Flyer fans have been waiting for, he has saved the best for last. Thanks God we have a goalie who can win us games.
Thanks you Marty, we love you and keep up the great work!!!
