    Goalie Moly!

So the Canadiens did it. They are going with Jaroslav Halak over Carey Price in net. Guy Carbonneau says he waited until the last minute so as to avoid scores of stories being written on the topic.

Sorry, dude. There are some people interested in who the Canadiens goaltender will be in a playoff game. People like the entire city of Montreal, most of the population of Quebec and a good portion of the country of Canada.

Beyond the coach's disbelief that this is an actual story -- moreso than any silly conspiracy theory involving the refs -- it is a fascinating move. But is it a smart one?

I smell desperation, which isn't a bad thing. The Habs are down 2-1 and still haven't seen a solid game from the Flyers. I applaud Carbonneau for having the guts to make the move.

Would be interested in your perceptions on the Habs' decision. The sooner the better. No waiting til the middle of the third period when Halak is on the bench and the Canadiens are trying to coax Patrick Roy out of retirement.

kinda like the move... what is down side?

price has been struggling, maybe Halak steps it up and makes the rest of the team rally around it.

smart move... if halak stands on his head, he looks like a genius and the canadiens likely win. if halak gets shelled early, price goes back in, likely playing with a chip on his shoulder

I know this is post game but i still think the same.

I think it was a bad move.

here's why. You were right its a desperation move, which means you think you are done. If you are truly done then a goalie change won't matter. Meanwhile unless morganti is right(on post game he speculated glove hand injury) they have just put the last nail in carey price's psyche. This kid is their franchise future. The kid that allowed them to move a competent starter. The next coming of roy etc... So if you think you have lost series already why risk losing price long term. As you know goalies are nut jobs like closers in baseball and once they get railed in, or pulled from, the big game they often are never the same.

post game i can officially re-iterate bad move cuz halak looked no better and more importantly they lost again.
