Just got an e-mail from Fox, which has decided it's going to postpone the Aug. 13 premiere of "The Simple Life," the "Green Acres"-like "reality" show starring "celebutantes" Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie.

Why? Because reporters covering television seemed excited about it. Actually, most of us were near hysteria during much of Fox's "Simple Life" press conference, though all that laughter might just have been relief that neither of these simple-minded blondes were our daughters or sisters.

"Due to the positive response to the show from everyone at [the Television Critics Association], the series will be pushed to later this season. The new premiere date and time slot are still being determined," according to Fox.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.
