HE CAN TYPE

From the where-are-they-now dept.: One of the typists working an overnight shift here last week, transcribing press conferences from the day before, was "Barney Miller's" Max Gail (Wojo), whose boss reports that while he's never worked for the firm before, he did a fine job.

More than one otherwise jaded TV critic -- at this point, some of us would probably cross a street to avoid a famous person -- lingered in the hall outside the press room, hoping to catch a glimpse of Gail. Not surprisingly in a crowd full of baby boomers, a lot of us remember "Barney Miller" pretty well.

But I think I'd rather see Gail, who put his career on hold for many years after his first wife died of cancer, get another shot at TV.
