Well-dressed man with a strong New York accent walks into the Century Plaza gift shop a few minutes ago and demands a paper.
Clerk offers him the Sunday Los Angeles Times, which like most Sunday papers, is available on Saturday. No, he tells her, he wants that day's paper. He then proffers a large bill to pay the 56 cents it costs, insisting he has nothing smaller.
Moments later, Donald Trump sweeps in behind him. "Did you get the paper?" he asks.
"I got the Times."
"I want the Daily News, not the Times."
Told that they've sold the only two copies they had of the New York Daily News, the first man leaves behind the Times on the counter, leaving the clerk, who didn't immediately recognize Trump behind him, confused.
"He paid for it already," she said.
