If you've ever wondered just how much reality there is on "reality" shows, I can at least testify that Jonathan Antin, the hairdresser at the center of my own stylist's favorite new show, "Blow Out," appears to be the same guy in person that he appears to be on the show.
I'll leave it up to you to decide whether that's a good thing.
Still, it's not often that you get to talk to a guy who gets paid more than $400 a haircut, so when I ran into him at an NBC party at Universal Park last night, I couldn't resist asking how much an actual blow-out cost at his Beverly Hills salon.
It ranges, he told me.
Widely, it turns out: from $60 (ouch) to $240 (searing pain).
Now it may have been that my hair, which I'd let dry curly that morning and which had just been exposed to the spray on the Jurassic Park ride, looked like a really tough job, or it may be that Antin charges the higher price for house calls to the stars, but he didn't seem amused in the least by my sticker shock.
But I'm afraid for money like that, I'd expect it to stay straight for the rest of my life. And maybe even beyond.
