I've waited 24 hours to talk about this because in my experience, nothing good can come out of writing about "Battlestar Galactica" (or, for that, matter, any science-fiction series).
Like it, and you have 1,500 new sworn enemies who will crash your e-mail.
Hate it, and you have 1,500 new best friends.
Who will crash your e-mail.
I'm inspired, though, by the courage of Edward James Olmos, who a year and a half ago learned all that and more when he told fans of the old "Battlestar Galactica" series not to bother watching the Sci-Fi Channel miniseries in which he starred.
Yesterday, here to promote a new "Battlestar Galactica" series in which he'll also star, Olmos nevertheless repeated his advice.
"There's a lot of people out there that do not like anything that's done on any remake ever," he said. "They like the originals of what they remember, and they want that, and those are the poeple that I was speaking to directly, and I still hold true to that.
"Don't [watch it]. Get the DVD of the original, and when we're on on Friday nights, put it in and don't watch our show -- because it could be detrimental to you mentally."
