TV critics who have them love their digital video recorders, and people in television certainly swear by their TiVos, but the recording technology got a testimonial from a less-than-likely source this morning, Grant Wilson and Jason Hawes, the plumber stars of the Sci-Fi Channel's "Ghost Hunters."
It seems that supernatural activity has a deleterious effect on video cameras, which tend to just shut off when things really get going, the pair said, while with DVRs, they can station the computer as much as 300 feet away and record Casper and company just fine.
Wilson and Hawes, who say that 80 percent of the hauntings they investigate turn out to have a this-world explanation, also noted that they get a lot of reports of potential hauntings from Pennsylvania.
Is the state more haunted? I asked.
Er, maybe not.
Turns out that most of the reports they've checked into haven't checked out.
So maybe Pennsylvanians are just more paranoid.
