James Marsters, who played Spike on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel," will be appearing this season on the WB's "Smallville," the show's Superboy star, Tom Welling, told us a little while ago.

He'll apparently be a bad guy, but according to Welling, "this time without the British accent and the blond hair."

Bad news for Spike lovers, but good news for those of us who realize Marsters is an actor, and not actually a hot-looking vampire.
