So OK, we were all a bit disappointed when only Michael Douglas showed up in person for what was supposed to be a father-son appearance with the man he calls Dad, Kirk Douglas.
Kirk Douglas, though, had a good excuse for doing the press conference via satellite from his Beverly Hills home.
"Emergency knee surgery," we were told by HBO, which had invited the duo, along with director Lee Grant, to talk about an Aug. 13 documentary on their relationship, "A Father...A Son...Once Upon a Time in Hollywood."
The 88-year-old actor, his voice still slurred a bit from the effects of a stroke he suffered several years ago, but sounding otherwise sharp, insisted on apologizing himself.
"I couldn't go there because I have new knees," he told us. "Next season, I want to audition for "Dancing With Stars," he added.
And he already has a partner in mind.
"Michael, I want to dance with your wife," he said.
Kirk Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones?
Look out, Kelly Monaco.

Hello,
My name is Abe Hall and I was wondering if there was any chance if you may have attempted to write a book on how to break into the television industry as a TV critic or movie critic. I recently graduated from college and it is a struggle to break into this backbreaking industry. Please reply to give hints or even to reject this e-mail!
Sincerely,
Abe
