Fox may say that charges that "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul had a sexual relationship with a contestant on the show are unsubstantiated, but ABC News president David Westin said he's "absolutely confident" that the network's story last spring was correct.
"I know the sourcing on this," Westin said. "I stand by our story."
Asked during a press conference why ABC News had refused to share its sourcing with those who conducted Fox's investigation -- admittedly an odd question to come from a room full of journalists -- Westin looked puzzled.
"Protecting them [ABC's confidential sources] doesn't just mean" not revealing their identities "to the outside world," he said.
