Ace Young's "Drops of Jupiter" may have left Randy and Simon cold, but Paula, as always distracted by unbuttoned shirts on young men, is quick to change the subject.
Taylor Hicks, we learn, has an "Idol" fan base known as the Soul Patrol. (Not as bad as the Clay Nation, but still a little worrying.) And a small fan who's dyed his hair a little gray. He sings "Trouble," and stands his ground when Randy does the "aw-right" thing.
Paula declares him an "old soul." Which apparently means she's not that interested in his chest.
And Simon, damning with faint praise, invokes the Clay name. Can't tell yet if he's trying to hurt him or help him.
Mandisa's "Wanna Praise You" causes Paula to declare that "40 million people have now joined the Church of Mandisa."
They've gone to commercial, so we're missing the part where Paula's struck by lightning.
