SHE HAS 'NOTHING'

Expect more Ryan tonight, because with just six contestants left, someone's going to have to fill that dead air.

Andrea Bocelli is the latest singer to decide "American Idol" isn't beneath him -- not if it means a plug for his latest album ("Amore," if you missed one of the mentions).

Katharine McPhee -- or Kat, as Ryan calls her -- gets to talk to Bocelli and collaborator David Foster about Foster's Whitney Houston song, "I Have Nothing."

Too prophetic, it turns out, as she tries to belt her way through the song, only to be outshone by her very yellow dress.

"Keepin' it real," Randy tells Kat that Whitney's song is too big for her, and Paula mentions "pitch problems." (Hate it when I agree with Paula, but there it is.)

Simon tells her she's not as good as Whitney Houston. Too true.

"For those who don't have their volume on, I'm sure you're going to get plenty of votes," sez Ryan, who's no doubt trying to be helpful but comes off smarmy.
