HE MAKES SIMON PROUD, ANYWAY

Hard to believe we're already at the final song -- tomorrow's results show will be stretched to two hours, but for the competition that counts the most, they're taking just one -- and that it's been so....blah.

Taylor sings something called "Do I Make You Proud?" and it is, lyrically, at least, every bit as bad as "My Destiny," though stylistically as apt for Taylor as the other one was for Katharine.

And no, I don't want to buy this one, either.

But then I've always said "Idol" CDs are like pancakes. You have to throw the first one or two away.

Randy likes Taylor more than the song.

Paula: "You are better than this song."

Simon: "Assuming I was right, that the show was tied, then you have just won 'American Idol.'"

That's quite an assumption, given how far ahead most observers believe Taylor's been in the voting, but Simon, who's reminded yet again that he never wanted Taylor in the competition in the first place, has to make it not only look like more of a horse race, but one in which he's the jockey.

A mental image akin to Taylor's violet velvet jacket, come to think of it.
