KAT'S 'MOMENT,' PART DEUX

Kat's dad is crying and the camera zooms in on his tears as his daughter finishes up "Rainbow," and apparently Paula saw him, because she mentions them in her rambling speech of congratulations. (Isn't he sitting behind her? Or is she watching the performance -- and the cutaways -- on a monitor?)

Randy thought she "worked it out," which is one of those Randyisms that always leave me puzzled, particularly when they're applied to performances that didn't work as well on my TV set as they did from where he's sitting.

"I truly believe this was your best performance of the competition to date," declares Simon, who must still hold out some faint hope that he won't be having to market a Taylor Hicks CD.
