Did. Not. See. That. Coming.
Chris out, and Kat still in?
Yikes.
Not that I'm really upset, mind you -- I've been over Daughtry's scary hypnosis trick for weeks now, and last night wasn't a good one for him -- but in fairness, Katharine McPhee fared considerably worse.
And what does this do to my theory that the order of solos during the results show signifies the order of votes?
I noticed for sure that Elliott -- who's more and more looking like a contender -- got the first (and sounded the best) and I think Kat was second. Seems to me Chris was next and Taylor last, though.
(Went back after writing this and checked the tape, and though Taylor and Kat both got bonus solos, the actual order was Elliott, Taylor, Kat, Chris. Which could well have been the voting order yet again. Hmmmm....)
Taylor, moreover, got a bonus solo, by special request of Rebecca Romjin, who right after claiming to love all the wannabes equally, begged to hear "Jailhouse Rock" one more time.
May have to go back to reading entrails, though it seems like a waste of a perfectly good goat.
But I'll admit to being very, very happy for Elliott, whose week-to-week transformation is the kind of thing that keeps me coming back to "Idol."
And until today, I didn't even know the guy is nearly deaf in one ear.

the Kat is clearly the most talented. Unfortunately the country is mostly deaf. I believe in her talent, as the 'other' two really stink.......really. 35 years in this business and what a delight to watch Kat glow. watch her how she leaves the talentless in the dust on 5-16.

It's amazing to me that Ted Mack's Amateur Hour, I mean American Idol, can have so much traction in a modern age. Are we so dumbed down that an amateur talent contest can have so much traction in this modern age? All we are missing is the Geritol commercials and this could easily pass for 40 years ago when this so-called entertainment was actually popular. Even then, that show could only hope for a Sunday early evening time slot. There was much more entertaining content during prime time. Thank goodness for digital cable when there are other options besides the brain dead broadcast TV fare.
