'SOMETHING' IN THE WAY HE MOVES

Taylor gets the sweet spot tonight -- with a Beatles song, "Something."

(Turns out he read the fine print, which allows them to pick songs from Billboard's "catalog" chart.)

Love the way he sounds, but could do without the excessive movements, which get in the way of such a simple song.

"It's easy to forget with all your balminess, that you're a very, very good singer," says Simon, who's amused by Taylor's sneaking in such an old song into a category that's meant to be more today than "Yesterday."

Kellie having gone home last week, no one asks what "balminess" means. (And I hope I got that right myself.)

As for the night, like Simon, I'd say it was "erratic."

And no, Katharine notwithstanding, I don't think he meant "erotic."
