So Trey Parker and Matt Stone finally arrived -- and they're grownups.
That's bad enough for those of us who were here the first time these two met the press 10 years ago for the premiere of "South Park," but even people who watch "South Park" -- which I'll admit I rarely do anymore -- were initially having trouble telling them apart.
Stone's trademark bushy hair is now clipped short and Parker, who used to bleach his hair, seems to be working on something suspiciously resembling a comb-over (which makes it all the stranger when he refers to wanting to age gracefully).
It comes to us all, of course (to some of us sooner than others), but for the record, Stone's 35 and Parker's 36, which in "South Park" years might well make them eligible for Social Security.
Sadly, they're so adult that they won't even say something impolitic about Comedy Central's decision to rerun the Tom Cruise episode, after all -- though the possibility of an ill-considered rant is why most of us got up this morning -- and it turns out they haven't even heard from the Church of Scientology since it first aired.
Parker jokes that Scientology loved the episode and has been "supportive," while Stone, marginally more serious, suggested the group "enjoys its reputation" for acts of vengeance.
Even an extensive discussion of the censorship of the pair's attempts to portray Muhammad proves well-reasoned and relatively uninflammatory.
For this we waited through the Naked Trucker?
