Ever since William H. Macy and his wife, Felicity Huffman, welcomed their first daughter, Sofia, nearly 6 years ago, the actor has been doing some children's projects on the side, the latest of which is PBS' animated series "Curious George," which he'll be narrating starting Sept. 4.
"It occurred to me when my oldest daughter was born that she'd be at least 50 before I'd let her see of of the movies" he'd made, said Macy, who claims to blush when people say they've seen him in "The Cooler."
It's not clear, though, how long it will be before Sofia and her 4-year-old sister, Georgia, are allowed to hear their father narrate "George."
"My kids don't watch TV," he said explaining that the house rule was that neither child may watch television until she can read, a rule that Macy freely acknowledges would be a luxury for most parents.
"My wife and I are big fat movie stars" and employ nannies, he said, so they're never put in the position of having to use the tube as an electronic baby sitter, however briefly.
That said, he's eager for Sofia, at least, to start reading -- currently she's memorized all her "Curious George" books -- so she can see the show.
"As a matter of fact, I can't wait," he said.
