J. LO'S IN THE HOUSE (AND WITH A PHILLY ANGLE)

Latest sign that the natives are getting restless: MTV's Brian Graden says Jennifer Lopez will only be taking questions about "DanceLife," the series she's producing for the network (it launches Monday at 10:30 p.m.), and the very first question put to Lopez is about how she's managed to move a bit out of the limelight in the past year.

Graden has that clenched look TV execs get when reporters disobey. Lopez is unfazed.

"My life for me had become uncomfortable," she said. "I realized there was a way to pull back from that in the way I live."

How does that work?

"You don't go out as much. You choose different places to go. If you want to be in those magazines you can," she said.

And apparently vice versa.

The not-too-personal questions out of the way, Lopez got to hold forth, with articulate enthusiasm, about "DanceLife," an eight-episode look at six dancers struggling to make it professionally.

One of the six, identified in MTV's press kit only as "Jersey," is said to be a former Eagles cheerleader and Las Vegas showgirl.

Asked if Jersey were the real name, Lopez looked surprised. "I never asked."

After someone connected with the show shouted the real name from the back -- Michelle Maniscalo -- Lopez looked even more surprised.

"Jersey's a real standout to me on the show. Very sexy and charming," she said.
