David E. Kelley's in the house, here to promote his midseason romantic comedy for Fox, "The Wedding Bells."
No one's seen the pilot yet, but even if we had, there would still have been questions about Kelley's wife, Michelle Pfeiffer, and a wedding theme just gives reporters an excuse.
Kelley, asked for a funny wedding story, sounds like a lot of husbands, since to him the "funniest part of my wedding story is that I had absolutely nothing to do with it."
In his case, though, it's because his bride-to-be was worried about paparazzi ruining the big day and was keeping all the details top-secret, "even from me," said Kelley.
OK, he wins.
As to why he and Pfeiffer -- who've been married 16 years -- don't generally work together, he suggests that they're both very "controlling" in their separate careers.
Plus, "I like to be senior management, and that never, never happens in her company," he said.
