DAY 6, 1-2 P.M.: LUNCH WITH TV CRITICS

Some of us ate lunch on the CTU set of Fox's "24" today, and all I can say about that right now is that it's not easy to focus on your sandwich when you're standing a dozen yards or so from the spot where Edgar died.

You know that conference room where the others sealed themselves in while the poor guy expired in agony? Not as easy to seal as they made it look -- I particularly thought the louvered glass panels appeared anything but airtight.

Fact is, they should all be dead.

Producers had salted the set with a bunch of red herrings that they'd be disappointed not to see on the Internet -- at least, we hope that's what they did -- which is why I'm fairly sure I'm not spoiling anyone's fun by revealing that one appeared to be an autopsy report on a key figure in Season 6. And yet, not being completely sure, I've deleted the identity.

CTU's better lighted than it appears on TV, and the gadgetry is way cool (the phones say it's 2012, but there's apparently an argument between the design people and executive producer Howard Gordon, who insists he's working in 2007, whatever the phones -- or the timelines -- say). But Kiefer Sutherland, whose life as Jack Bauer keeps him on the road a lot, isn't a fan.

"I do not miss the bunker, no," he said. "The crew gets excited when I come to work because it generally means we're getting out of here and going on location."

Sutherland, by the way, doesn't play the "24" video game. But his kids do.

"And they purposely lose, so I get blown up and shot," he said. "They think that's really funny."
