The comings and goings of cable network execs don't usually get my blood flowing, but thanks to the wi-fi in the Ritz ballroom, some of us have just learned that MTV Networks president Michael Wolf is outtahere.
What makes this odd is the timing: We're two-thirds of the way through a three-hour block of press conferences by MTV Networks right now. Not one of the execs who's been on stage this afternoon has so far deigned to mention Wolf's departure, which the company announced in a press release sent out on the PR Newswire about an hour ago.
But hasn't (so far) noted here.
On the other hand, I do know more than I ever thought possible about the latest project from "thirtysomething" veteran Polly Draper: "The Naked Brothers Band," a Nickelodeon mockumentary starring Draper's two young sons, who apparently really are musicians. And are not really naked.
Update: Los Angeles Daily News TV critic David Kronke just interrupted a press conference with the Oscar-winning Three 6 Mafia to ask MTV programming president Brian Graden why, at an event that many reporters attend with the expectation that news will be made, we didn't get the word from the horse's mouth.
"Blessedly, it's above my pay grade," replied Graden, who could only refer reporters to MTV's corporate flacks.
