The Mandy Patinkin saga continues, with word coming this morning that the too-sick-to-show-up-for-PBS actor, who reportedly missed a table read for CBS' "Criminal Minds" last week, is now getting a divorce from "Minds," citing the usual "creative differences."
What? Did it take Patinkin this long to find out that there's no singing in shows about the people who track serial killers?
He's done 45 episodes, according to IMDB.com. (He did 54 on "Chicago Hope," and 29 on Showtime's "Dead Like Me," but that got canceled.) And he may or may not have agreed to do one more, since ABC Studios and CBS Paramount Network Television, which make the series, say his departure will be "explained to audiences in an episode to be filmed in the near future and broadcast early next season."
They plan to add a new character. Hard to imagine anyone being a bigger character than Mandy, though.
