NEXT, MARTIN SCORSESE ON THE MAKING OF 'HANNAH MONTANA"

The last place most of us might have expected to see documentary filmmaker Barbara Kopple ("Shut Up & Sing," "Harlan County USA")" was on a panel for a Disney Channel documentary about the making of a high school production of "High School Musical."

The woman's won two Academy Awards, after all. Though she insists that "not all my films are serious," she is, nevertheless, a serious filmmaker.

So what's she doing here?

"I couldn't resist doing it," gushed Kopple, who copped to having her own high school musical past. "How can you resist getting into the hearts and souls of teenagers?...There was no way I couldn't have done it. I love it and I'm hooked."
