Keith Olbermann -- Some of the Best Damn Commentaries on Bush Period

Here's a guest blog by Steve Urbanski. (You may recall seeing Keith Olberman in the photo on this page.)

I've always enjoyed Keith Olbermann's show Countdown on MSNBC. From his "Worst Person in the World" segment (frequently won by Fox News' Bill O'Reilly, and now an Olbermann book) to the "Oddball" feature (a television version of "news of the weird,") Olbermann makes his show a "must-see TV" hour.

Over the last month or so, however, Olbermann has given three special commentaries which were not only riveting but showed a deep understanding of the world today, and in particular, offered poignant critiques of the Bush and his administration.

The man who was once best known as the witty co-anchor of ESPN's Sports Center has grown into an articulate newsman whose commentaries are insightful, well written, and deserve to be noticed. Three "special comments" deserve particular attention: This hole in the ground, 'Have you no sense of decency, sir?' and Bush owes us an apology.

Last night, while watching the last 15 minutes of Keith Olbermann's "Countdown," I was glad for him that American's still have a First Amendment. He left no stone unturned as he counted the many ways in which Bush has lied to us to satisfy his own demented agenda. What is so amazing is that there are too many voting Americans who still believe every word the man says. The gullible depths of the American public can not be overestimated.

"Truth always wins out with the american public", that's correct. Sometimes it just takes more time than at other times. Say good bye to the GOP controlled house. Be sure to stay tuned for further details though.

Hey Tony,

I watch Olbermann, too. So I guess he has at least three viewers.

For years the RNC and Karl Rove, et.al. have come up with a strategy based on the "kill the messenger" theory. When they hear bad news, they just blame it on the "liberal media." It's a great strategy, because you can ignore the truth. Rush Limbaugh and his copy cats have a good shtick, but that's all they are. Calling their programs "news" is a true bastardization of the word "news."

funny stuff to hear someone talk about "truth" and "Rush" in the same sentence.

watch for falling, illegally obtained pills, on your Limbagh prayer rug.

the hypocrisy is too funny.

blah,blah,blah

Great Commentary. Why is he the only one in broadcasting "telling it like it is"?

Olbermann is witty, funny, and very informative. Why anyone would watch O'Reilly or anyone else at 8pm is beyond me. I agree with Steve, Olbermann's special comments are great. When will most Republicans learn that George W. Bush will go down in history as a failure as a President. His macho, cowboy style, is in and of itself enough reason to rank him among the worst Presidents. His lack of accomplishments only solidify his position on the bottom.

Olbermann is right, this guy (Bush) does not deserve a pass for 9/11. What part of the August 6th Daily Briefing "Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States" didn't he understand? Did he them to draw him a picture?

Jerry, you must have a lot of fingers. Since the first commentary, Olbermann's nightly audience has increased 69 percent, according to Nielsen Media Research. This past Monday 834,000 people tuned in, virtually double his season average and more than CNN competitors Paula Zahn and Nancy Grace. Bill O'Reilly had 2.1 million, down from 2.8 million in July, 2006.

jerry you think olbermann is macho and good-looking? Where are you from - minnesota?

It's interesting that so many keep citing ratings as the ultimate source of credibility and quality. If ratings were a measure of quality, then American Idol would be the greatest work of art in US history, instead of the most insipid thing on television today.

Olberman is often annoying and smarmy, but when he settles down and acts serious, he can be very eloquent. O'Reilly on the other hand is nothing but a bully, who tries to win every argument by intimidating his guests. What's sad is that while he is pulling in more viewers, when he starts ranting about the ratings, he starts to look like he's desperately trying to hide his frustration over the zingers Keith tosses at him. What's really the source of Bill's frustration is that he can't bully Olberman from another studio, so instead, he threatens to sic Fox security on anyone who mentions Olberman's name on his show.

Which just makes him look delusional as well as desperate.

steve urbanski wrote the blog and submitted it - not Flavia Colgan.

Face it Dems are better looking. Repubs are sticks in the mud. Always have been, always will be.
