Voting stories

Tell me your voting story. I want to hear from you, What you care about, what you voted for, what you hope your vote will do.

If it was your first time voting, why this year?

If you haven't voted yet, and this is the only time I will say this - stop reading now and go vote! (Find your polling place: Phila. | Pa. | N.J.)

(Also: f you have any trouble voting, please report it here.)

Just an update..the polls are humming according to the poll workers. My voting place here in Belle Chasse, Louisiana was moving along, no lines. Melancon (D) will win in a walk. Over in District 2 Jefferson has quite an army working. More signs than I can count. Runoff maybe? Harry Lee, the world famous Sheriff of Jefferson Parish has endorsed Troy Carter and he had a good group of folks working the streets yesterday. That should be interesting, although I see Karen Carter doing the best. We shall see. Since I was a little boy, not old enough to vote, election day has always been an exciting, and serious day, whichever day it falls on. Please go vote today. Our future depends on it. I'm out. Times a-wasting! God, I Love America!!!

Update 2:

Here in Algiers, just on the other side of the Mississippi River, it is interesting to see the outspent Troy Carter folks out en force. Should be interesting as I recall that Judge Lawrence Cherhardy just sent an endorsement letter in his favor...and that seems to be a powerful endorsement - and good for him because he didn't have as much to spend - check Jefferson's freezer is my advice (that was bad sorry). Jefferson and Sheppard, are all looking like they have a shot at the runoff. The LA DNC is not officialy taking sides on this one. Talking to Julie Vezinot yesterday, the LA State Comm Director, it seemed that turnout will be low in New Orleans. I think it will be much lower than the Mayor's race. The weather is overcast and it looks like rain. At Hertz Car Rental where I had to extend my contract, 2 out of 3 employees said they would vote. The other one wasn't that interested and someone had to mind the store. Would that person vote if it were Saturday or a National Holiday - who knows?

I'm about to exchange my suit and tie for some comfortable shoes and get out there again. I hope it doesn't rain!

If you live in a state with a predicted low voter turnout - what you do to help get people to the polls should have an exponentially greater impact. Don't get complacent - get busy!

Correction: LADEMO is endorsing Karen Carter.

i voted via absentee from Iraq. I am a resident of Ca. and it was amazing the amount of issues on the ballot.

i had to do a bunch of reading and actually put some thought into things! the Ca. voter guide was well written and very helpful.

it provided both sides of the argument and let you make choices in an informed manner.

glad to be an American and serving and voting.

Its William Jefferson and Karen Carter in a run-off. 90 grand in a freezer and he may just keep his seat? Wow.

On my way home from the election watching, a song came on the radio...Thunder Only Happens When It's Raining...I think the people let thier voices be hear like thunder last night, and that's good because it has sure been raining for the past 6 years.
