There's a job fair today for veterans, put on by Hire Vets First. In Philadelphia, it's down at the Pennsylvania National Guard Armory, and it runs from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
It's only open to veterans, who are invited to bring their spouses and their resumes. According to today's piece in the Daily News, "The Department of Labor wants to educate the business community about the value of hiring vets." Seems hard to believe anyone would need a greater explanation than having discipline, leadership, camaraderie, a desire to serve their country - oh, and the American Hero thing.
So many vets are coming home to too few options, and sadly, according to a new study 25% of US homeless are veterans. Not on our watch!

Wow, posting this an hour AFTER the job fair starts. Thanks for the advance warning.
Not on your watch...your watch should have been advertising this a week ago.
You are such a fraud.

Thanks for thinking of us.
I don't think you are a fraud.

Give Flavia a break, "Vet" - er, I mean, "Meter Maid." I posted this for her as she was traveling, and I didn't get it up at 10 because I had a bunch of other stuff on my plate during that hour. You might try dropping the multiple aliases and contributing something constructive.

Not very nice vet.

You are all missing the point...if this was that important, you think it would have been posted a few days ago so that anyone who wanted to come and/or bring their spouses would have had sufficient time to prepare. I'm sure the turnout was massive with all the advance notice.
And don't try to sell how much you care when it gets posted and written about (same day) with no advance notice, to me that is fraud.
Sorry you can't take constructive criticism. And I use the VET tag because I am one and use it for any discussion about vets.

Well, sometimes we don't find out about things until the 11th hour and then decide that late is better than never.

Sorry guys I would have loved to put it up sooner. We had a cop get shot here in Philly and like most my mind was on that and the fundraisers and funeral and so forth. As you probably notice I don't accept ads for this site and make no money from it--Adm. don't be too tough on yourself considering you volunteer to help me with the site, I am very grateful. I got a few e-mails from folks that were able to make it which is lucky for them.
I also posted it as a heads up for folks since one is happening in each state and we have readers from around the country and also as a reminder to employers that they need not get educated about why to hire vets-- it should be obvious.
