THERE'S NEVER been a better year for people to take advantage of the chance to get richer, especially low-income people.

How does an extra $5,000 or more sound? That's the amount that many taxpayers can qualify for this year by filing for the economic stimulus check and the earned income tax credit.

Eligible taxpayers can get between $300 and $600 (up to $1,200 if married filing jointly) under this year's Economic Stimulus Act; eligible parents can get an additional $300 per child.

And it gets even better: if you qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), you can get up to $4,716 a year.

That's a lot of dough. And the Campaign for Working Families will help you get it, for free. The Campaign has 16 tax-preparation sites where volunteers help people file their taxes and apply for credits they may be eligible for. They have many ways they can help people build on that added wealth.
