I thought your part rocked, Flavia. The issue is basicly bogus. Not sure which part, yours or the whole setup Kevin is referring to. Maybe he'll explain at more length.

A character in Shakespeare's Hamlet once said "To thine own self be true".
Rev. Wright was dealing with the question of evil. To get to the truth of what he is saying, we can't just write him off as a Left Wing lunatic.
Good work in keeping on point.

I think Kevin may just be stirring up some trouble, kind of like how he does when he posts something on linking contraceptives to breast cancer from a random press release from 5 years ago...

gotta be tough trying to speak intelligently in the atmosphere that is the "factor."
thought you did well.
sometimes i wonder if giving people like Farrakhan or Robertson an audience is good or bad. when people wrap themselves in the cloak of "faith" and then create friction and hate, and incite fear, it makes me think of the old adage "yelling FIRE in a packed theater."
Is it free speech?
or am i just not liking their version of free speech?
either way, I hold the remote...don't I?

Hey Flavia, i'm new to your site and i've been checking out some of your stuff, it's very informative! I liked your interview with Orlando Bloom; you were funny! Unfortunately, I can't tell you how well you fared in this particular interview because my earphones are MIA, but you sure look good! I'll be sure to check out your appearance on CNN tonight! Go get em, Philly style!

I have never disagreed more with someone I found SO agreeable.

Note to 5:25 commenter: Flavia's Larry King spot has been moved to Thursday night. I just updated the front-page blurb. Thanks.

Nice job. I admire you for appearing on "The Factor." O'Reilly has a real problem accepting differing points of view, because he's always "right" (or at least that's what he tells everyone.) He is insulting and rude, and the fact that he tempers it with a smile and the "you decide" and "i'll let you have the last word" bull doesn't make him any beeter.
The world is not as black and white (no pun intended) as O'Reilly sees it. Not that it matters to O'Reilly, but thanks for illustrating the universal fact that we live in a world full of "gray" and not "black and white."

I can't believe my eyes and ears. Did you make a complicated and gracious arguement while keeping your cool with a blowhard? I am beyond impressed. I hope it gives confidence to others that they don't have to just give boring talkign points.

I really enjoyed that segment and I thought both you, O'Reilly and the other guest all made interesting and valid points. Basically for me the segment explored the moral ambiguity that perplexes a great many Christians, including myself. What is the role of tolerance, and when do we draw a line? Are we obliged to tolerate non-integrity, and can we still be intolerant of non-integrity and yet at the same time forgive our brethren?
For me, I think I am beginning to resolve this dilemma by remembering, as you alluded to, that even the greatest sinner conceivable was nonetheless created in the image and likeness of God. The problem is that through sin and spiritual error, as John said, "the darkness hath blinded our eyes." It is not so much that we are intrinsically bad, but moreso that we lack spiritual awareness, and this is subject to degree.
But there comes a time when enough is enough, and one has to take a stand. This is in fact the sole reason I find the O'Reilly Factor so valuable. I also remember what Dante said, that the hottest places in hell are reserved for those who remain neutral in times of moral uncertainty.
Blessings,
Peter

Flavia;
I still do not understand what actually goes on in that church. It seems to me fox obviously wanted paint Barack as racist or unpatriotic by tying him to pastors comment. O riley seems much better than Hannity. I can not stand that Hannity guy. I had never watched these shows before but my interest in election news took me to that cable channel because of their coverage.Of course I do not know black theology but things like govt introduced HIV to kill its own people sounds far fetched.
I thought you were trying to explain something about black theology which I really did not understand. I come more from hard sciences and my understanding of religion is limited except what I learned from my culture (I am from India). I am interested in certain questions about link of religion with business, have been thinking about writing a book on it (this is very true in context of India). Would like to discuss with you some time. What is the best way to contact you.Thx.
Best- Barry
PS: Another funny thing was that I felt like I have know you for years which is some what strange because I am absolutely sure our paths have never crossed before.More when we speak.

Way to stand up to Bill!

Appreciate the effort and could not agreee with you more. Unfortunately, neither O'Reilly or his viewers have interest in anything "nuanced." He dropped the words "crazy" and "liberal" on you during your interaction with him clearly to signal his viewers as to just how wrong you are and to reject anything you might say. He does it all the time.
You know I love ya and respect you a great deal, but appearing on Fox is a lost cause for anyone like yourself capable and interested in critical thought. And for Fox viewers critical thought means processing thoughts intellectually, discussing points of view and then forming opinions, not just criticizing someone and then putting on earmuffs so as not to listen to what anyone else has to say :-)

If anyone deserves some slack for their service to this country and the world, that person is Bill Clinton. Now, nearly eight years after President Clinton (Bill) left office; I miss him more than ever! I can't think of anyone who can hold a candle to him. He left office leaving behind a 450 billion dollar surplus! What more proof do you need? We were prosperous, and well respected around the world. He accomplished all of that in spite of the Washington media's daily attacks, and relentless hit jobs. Eight years after he left office we find ourselves surrounded by disasters and on a slippery slope of decline. This year our trade defict is about $727 billion! How long can we go on like this, can anyone tell me? A crisis-- one sort of another-- has become a daily occurrence, like living in a third world country. Now, the media is promoting and cheering for Sen. Obama. Just like they promoted Gov. Bush and Iraq war, remember? I feel another set of disasters are just around the corner. But electing Sen. Hillary Clinton as our next president we can put an end to the decline of our country and promote prosperity and success here at home and stability throughout the world!

Flavia,
You did aight considering you already had 3 strikes against you with good old Bill, don't like him, fair and balanced my a**!
Anyway, I think anyone in this great country who dares to speak the truth or side with the unpopular will be burned at the stake in some fashion.
So what, he stood up for a colleague of his. However, Farrakhan? That is a whole nother story.
Sincerely,
TheBoss
