A survey released this week showed that US companies gave 14% more to charitable causes in 2005 than the previous year. It also showed more emphasis on volunteerism with 87% of companies having at least one formal volunteer program. Since many companies are posting record breaking profits, it only seems right that they should share the wealth. We'll keep this post positive though and give credit where credit is due. Kudos to US Companies for realizing the importance of being good Citizen Hunters.

Speaking of volunteers,
yesterday a few volunteers tracked down and killed an individual who was more violent and ruthless than pretty much anyone I have ever seen.
He was a product of the "Arab Street" as Tom Friedman puts it.
My company, the US military, has commited itself, with pure volunteerism, to eradicating the type of person who would make a video while sawing off the head of a young, innocent man.
hooray for our volunteers.
pray for them.
they need it.
Posted by: evolo at June 9, 2006 10:01 PMI was going to mention something about volunteerism in the office and corporate donations, but that all seems fairly insignificant after reading evolo's post. That's a tough act to follow, considering I sit at a desk every day in a nice safe office with 15 other people.
Bravo to all Americans serving in the military, wherever you are. Time for me to go click on the "ways to support our troops link"....
Posted by: JSM at June 11, 2006 04:01 PMVolunteerism is great, but don't forget about activism.
As our children grow, the volunteer ranks swell. people join clubs and organizations to do good things for others. But remember that some causes have not the establishments backing and our children are not speaking out as there parents before them.
Many great causes were started because there were a brave few that dared blaze their own trail.
Both are important. Both are needed. Pray we have both volunteerism and activism in abundance. Our county needs them.
