    Are you a 3 percenter?

Are you a three-percenter? According to the Archives of Internal Medicine only 3% of Americans lead a healthy lifestyle. What qualifies as a healthy lifestyle:

    1. No Smoking
    2. Maintain a Healthy Weight
    3. Eat 5 or more fruits and vegetables per day
    4. Exercise (a minimum of 30 mintues 5 days per week)

    Where do you stand?

    MBenita:

I quit smoking November 2001...cold turkey...after prices increased. So, although I should have quit because smoking does nothing positive to your body, there was actually another catalyst involved - inflation!

I do exercise 3 - 5 times per week and always insure that I have at least 30 minutes of cardio per day. Cardio is a great stress reliever.

Fruits I do...veggies I despise but I'm working on that.

Weight (here we go)...it's finally there...

Can we add to this list, please?
Body fat measurement (I think the actual test is called BMI?)

    Kimberly:

The BMI is not the same as bodyfat testing. The BMI stands for Body Mass Index and it does not measure your percentage of body fat. There is a body mass index calculator on the right hand side of this site. You'll have to go to a personal trainer, a gym, or University to have a bodyfat test conducted.

    MBenita:

    Thanks for clarifying that.

The body fat is measured with a "claw" at my gym and the BMI is based on height/weight calc.

(I had several co-workers correct me on this as soon as they read the comment.)

    Glo:

    Hey Kim,
I know that consistency and discipline are key to effect results, but how and or what would you suggest for the person who travels a lot for work, works long hours and finds little time to pull it all together?
