    Anne:

What happened to the other "Girlfriends?" I enjoyed seeing women of all different ages and shapes contributing about what worked for them.

    You're still bookmarked, though. :)

As one of the "girlfriends" who used to be the regulars on this site, let me say I really appreciate your kind words, Anne. I asked Kimberly to take the lead on the site after I'd done it for several months and had run out of steam... Kimberly is such an expert and has such boundless energy! The other girlfriends are still at the Daily News too and we will be weighing in (forgive the pun!) with conversation on this new version of the Girlfriends blog.

    Joanita:

I used to be a 3% but I recently "popped" my achilles tendon. It's going to take @ a year before I'll be able to get back to my regular routines - circuit training, jogging etc. I'm 44. I can't imagine what shape I'll be in a year from now without the usual excercise. HELP!

    Kimberly:

This is for Connie and toning the arms.

    Toned Triceps

Summer is officially here and sleeveless dresses and blouses are the perfect attire for the hot days of summer. However, many women complain and tell me that they don't feel confident enough to bare their arms and shoulders. Some though lean, have soft and flabby arms. While others, in spite of the heat, hide their fat arms under long sleeved blouses and jackets.

If you're goal is to tone up the arms this summer you'll need to commit on three levels:

    1. Cardio 5 to 6 times a week for 30 to 60 minutes

    2. Eat Smart

    3. Weight Train

Resistance training or weight training will tone and tighten the triceps, the muscles at the back of the arms that jiggle when you wave good bye. To get rid of that jiggle, do the following exercises 2-3 sets, 12- 20 reps:

    Dips

    Push-ups

    Dumbbell Triceps Kickbacks

Remember, for ultimate results it requires proper nutrition, and a balance of cardio and resistance training.

    Heather :

    Hey Kim
As one of the Co-Founders of "Girlfriend's Guide to Getting Fit", I want to wish you only the best. Ellen, Barbara, Julie & I all shared a vision to create a place where women could get real answers to their fitness questions in an accepting yet fun environment. It has been fun watching the column/blog evolve.
I look forward to your taking the column to the next level and know that.
    Keep up the great work!

    Aida:

I've visited the locker room site before and it seemed a little scattered. There seemed to be a whole lot going on. I think the format is a little easier to follow now. Kimberly I know you will have much success in your blogs and in influencing the multitudes to think and be smart in managing our health. I am petite in size, and fairly young (under 30) and yet have high cholesterol. So I definitely have room to improve the portions of fatty foods I intake. Now if only I could get my boyfriend to care a little more about his intake. He thinks I'm just nagging him and he's right. I've given him a simple solution for the nagging, and that is to 'Pick Up a Vegetable!!'
It felt good to vent that. That makes this place so special. :-) Well I'm done for now. I'll be back!
