Is hair drama keeping you from getting your exercise in? Many women are sacrificing their health and fitness trying to maintain perfectly coiffed hair. As paradoxical is it may seem, you can maintain a fitness lifestyle and keep your hair looking good too. You simply have to find a style that will work with your workouts and the rest of your lifestyle. What solutions have some of you ladies developed to combat hair drama?

Good Afternoon, Ladies!
Since I work out at least 4 - 5 days per week, I know what havoc sweat and bouncing around can do to my hair. My solution is to side part my hair, wet it, throw some conditioner in and tie it down. It's smooth, sleek and always looks good. I've done this style whether my hair is short (like now) or long (like it was last summer). My other fav style for longer hair is to wet braid it & wear it crinkly.

If you're into fitness, you gotta think about this. Now my hair is short-- dries quickly, is easy to style, even if I take a break to exercise in the middle of my workday. But I liked having long hair too-- so easy to put it into a ponytail. I always pack a curling iron in my gym bag for quickly touching up after exercising.
What products do people recommend for styling hair after a workout? I just bought some TIGI Bed Head thickening goo, and it's a great post-workout scruncher, I must say...

I've cancelled workouts simply because I didn't want to jack up my hair.
But having a jacked-up body and perfectly coifed hair isn't an option either.
Nor is cutting it all off as some people are fond of suggesting or going all natural.

Since I've never had the greatest head of hair. I decided to lock my hair, especially since I workout 5 days a week.
I don't worry about moisture. Even when it rains I am not concerned.
I try to keep my hair as healthy as possible by taking vitamin A,E, fish oil and protein powder, each morning. I also use a good shampoo and conditioner.
I feel liberated.

I went the drastic route: a reverse perm. This weather is bad enough for kinky, curly hair but add in the workouts and I was experiencing hair rage on almost a daily basis.
Bed Head products are also good. For obvious reasons, I like Control Freak.
The steam room is now a luxury I can afford.

I started using Phyto products about 6 months ago...although more expensive then I'm accustomed to spending, it has helped tremendously with my hair. Of course, the price I paid for Phyto products is probably far less than the multitude of "hair stuff" that's taking up room in my closet!
It was suggested to me also to go natural or short...I tend to go with how I'm feeling during that period in my life. Amazingly, I've found through before & after pics, that I look younger with shorter hair! Not to say I won't let it grow long again, but as I approach my mid-40s, I've lost the attachment I used to have with my hair.

The American Lung Association has a beautiful saying, "If You Cannot Breathe, Nothing Else Matters". So, I say, if you are in poor health as a result of not exercising, watching what you eat, then why would your hair matter.

I've exercised for many years with chemically relaxed hair and always found a way to be creative. Some of the styles worked and some did not but I learned to live with them all. Three years ago I decided to go natural because my hair was thinning in spots from years of relaxing. I love, love, love my natural hair, It's as healthy and strong as it was when I was a child and the style I wear works well for the gym or a corporate conference room.

I still need a solution! I've just begun working out again, and my hair is looking atrocious! I don't want to stop working out, as I really need to make a change for the better with my body (heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes run in my family). Has anyone found a solution (OTHER than cutting it off!) to keeping your hair looking decent when you're working out 3 - 5 days a week??
