Is drinking cows milk really healthy for us or is it just marketing hype? No other animals drink the milk of other animals nor do they continue to drink milk after infancy. Why do we? Most of the world does not drink dairy products at all. Yet countries like Japan where dairy is not consumed have little to no osteoporosis. According to Harvard Medical School, the high animal protein contents of milk, leaches calcium from your bones. Check out www.milksucks.com and let me know what you think.

As far as diet goes, it seems like the larger problem is people abusing their dairy intake with the likes of butter, ice cream and whole milk. More than 80% of Asian people are lactose intolerant, so I try to limit my own dairy portions. I'll try to eat more fish and eggs for my protein sources.

I agree with Christina in that people abuse their dairy intake with items that have little to do with dairy or has the highest protein content.
I'm not a high believer in these "so called experts" who develop these surveys.
Our bodies are fine tuned machines and no isolated thing or source deteriorates or repairs a certain part. It all works in conjunction...

You said it, Kimberly! Not only is milk unhealthy for humans, it's just been shown that the dairy industry's claims of assisting weight-loss are nonsense. As the Washington Post put it: More Milk Means More Weight Gain.

Greetings All,
It's my belief, and that of my culture, that any milk other than the milk of one's Mother's breast, can cause nothing but problems from the beginning. And now in a time when animals are being treated with hormones, drinking thier milk should be last on any Mother's agenda. Maybe this is why we have more young people looking like early twenty something when they're only 12 or 10; not to mentioned young girls showing signs of mensturation at as young as 7 years old.
This is a wonderful site...Peace!

Maybe we're the only animals that continue to drink milk because we're the only animals that are intelligent enough to do so; if any other animal were at the top of the food chain, then humans would be food. Wanna stay healthy? Avoid refined sugars, trans fats and other refined/bleached and deodorized oils, and stay as far away from refined soy as possible. Refined soy products in processed foods and formulas, by the way, is what you may thank for menstruation at age 7.

Matt, while your stay healthy regimen is correct in terms of refined foods in general, your last statement is ridiculous. Why would refining a plant product cause early menstruation? Let's see some peer-reviewed research to back up that connection. On the other hand, it makes perfect sense that the constant consumption of an animal product rich in growth hormones, both natural and added, would affect childrens hormonal balance.
