    • 6:00 p.m. FAST BIKE RIDE TO CARVERSVILLE: 19-20 mph, 43 miles. Start at Hatboro Horsham High School, 899 Horsham Road, Parking Lot E, Horsham, PA. Join us for our once a year weeknight ride to Carversville. Very fast pace, two major climbs, no rest stops, lots of fun. Bring plenty to drink. Pace line on Mechanicsville Road (speeds hit 30 mph).     • 6:00 p.m. HANDLOFF PARK BIKE RIDE: Leave from Handloff Park, Newark (formerly Barksdale Park at the corner of Casho Mill Rd. & Barksdale Rd.). Each week this ride will follow one of three different routes. Terrain will be flat on the southern route towards Chesapeake City and rolling to hilly on the northern route into Pike Creek & western route into Cecil County. Average speed will range from 15-17 mph on the flat route to 13-15 mph on the rolling to hilly routes. Distance will range from 30-35 miles depending on speed and daylight.     • 6:00 p.m. BEGINNER BIKE RIDES FROM SPRINGER MIDDLE SCHOOL: This ride is intended for beginners/families who would like to get out those bikes and ride in a group.     • 6:30 a.m. 10K PAGODA TO HOME PLATE FUN RUN: The run will come down the mountain, out 13th street around George Field and finish with a lap around the warning track inside the stadium, First Energy Stadium, 1900 Centre Avenue, Reading, PA. Call 610-375-8469.
    • 7:00 a.m. AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY BIKE-A-THON: American Cancer Society 35th annual cancer fundraiser traverses up to 100 miles, with most taking the 69.3 mile long route, from Philadelphia's Ben Franklin Bridge to Buena Vista Camping Park in Buena, NJ. Over 5,000 riders are expected at this year's 35th annual Bike-a-thon. It's broken into four distances so everyone can participate: A short 20.9 mile course starts at Frog Rock Golf & Country Club in Hammonton, NJ; a more challenging 54.9 miler starts at Cherry Hill East High School at 7:30 a.m; and the full 69.3 mile ride leaves Philadelphia's side of the Ben Franklin Bridge at 6:55 am.     • 8:00 a.m. BRANDYWINE 50 BIKE RIDE: A moderately hilly 40-60 mile ride at 15 mph through Chester and Delaware Counties. The ride starts from Brandywine High School (Rt. 261, Foulk Road) at the tennis courts, and will return between noon and 1:00 pm.     • 8:30 a.m. SCHWENKSVILLE BIKE RIDE: 13-14 mph, 50 miles. Start at Bruno's Deli, Northwestern and Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia. Rolling hills with a few, short, steeper climbs. This route is one of my favorites. At least half the ride is on bucolic, low traffic roads. Take out lunch eaten on the deck at the Train Stop Cafe. Meet 8:15 for a PROMPT start.     • 8:30 a.m. ART MUSEUM BIKE RIDE: 35+ miles, Class: C+. Art Museum ride from Drexel Hill Cyclery, Burmont Rd., Drexel Hill. We'll travel to the museum not for culture, but to cruise the museum loop. Bring $ for snack. Contact Bob Martin at 610-352-2114.

    • 9:00 a.m. FAMILY FRIENDLY BIKE RIDE: Everyone welcome--new and experienced, young and old. This is a great first club ride and an excellent opportunity to ride with your spouse, significant other and/or your kids. Depart Handloff Park (Barksdale Road in Newark) for an 11 mile ride at 8-10 mph along mostly quiet neighborhood roads and the Hall Trail. The terrain is mostly flat with some rolls in the last half of the ride. There is a point about half way that allows you to stop early and avoid the rolls if you choose.     • 9:30 a.m. MIDDLETOWN TRAILS HIKE: Depart 69th Street, Philadelphia or in the parking lot on Valley Rd at 10:15 a.m. The lot is approximately 200 yards from the intersection of US 1 and Valley Rd, (across US 1 from the Franklin Mint).     • 6:00 p.m. PIKE CREEK BIKE RIDE: Evening rides departing from Ebenezer United Methodist Church parking lot on Polly Drummond Hill Rd in Pike Creek. Monday's ride will be 28-35 miles at 14-16 mph over ultra hilly terrain. (Wednesday's ride will be 32-38 miles but will average a faster pace, 17-19 mph ride over flat to rolling terrain.) Must have tire repair equipment and be able to use it. Both of these rides are pre-racing training rides for those riders who are considered at least B+ riders. You will not be dropped as long as you stay within the average pace range. We wait for everyone at the tops of all major climbs. You should understand the difference between rolling and average speed. Rolling speeds may be considerably more than the average speed, depending on the terrain.     • 6:00 p.m. DUNBAR'S BIKE RIDE: These MS Training Rides leave Dunbar's Cyclery on Philadelphia Pike, just north of Washington Street Extension. These rides will run until the end of September, although the starting time will have to be changed a bit as we get into September. There will be a 17 mph group and a group averaging 14 mph. No one will be dropped as long as they keep close to the posted speed ranges. Mileage will be 18-23 miles. There will be at least two ride leaders every week to cover both groups.
