The ongoing, every Friday night, all year round, Friday night fitness hike, where we try to work up a sweat exploring the sand roads and trails of Brendan Byrne S.F. Be prepared to walk at an average of 4 MPH, 15 minutes per mile pace with few breaks. Bring water and wear well broken-in boots, shoes, or sneakers (sneakers are adequate in dry conditions). Socks are also important footgear, synthetics and wool being better at preventing blisters (avoid cotton socks).     • 9:00 a.m. NORTHBROOK ORCHARDS BIKE RIDE: Leave from Lantana Square Shopping Center, Hockessin from the end of the parking lot closest to the Rt.7, Limestone Rd. entrance for a 40-45 mile rolling to hilly ride to Northbrook, PA. Average speed will be 13-15 mph along scenic routes into the Brandywine River Valley and back. No one will be dropped as we will regroup if necessary at the top of larger hills. Bring money for a rest stop at Northbrook Orchards, or a snack in case they're closed. If they're open, you can enjoy the cider donuts, which are awesome!     • 9:00 a.m. BARKSDALE TRAINING BIKE RIDE: Leave from Handloff Park for 47 rolling to hilly miles at 16-17 mph, steady endurance pace, NOT a race pace. The average speed (16-17 mph) is the overall average parking lot to parking lot. It is NOT the rolling speed, so there may be times when our rolling speed is greater (or less) depending on the terrain, etc. Ride format is double pace line, steady tempo. There are no stops.     • 10:00 a.m. WASHINGTON CROSSING NJ HIKE: 15 miles, moderate pace. A shuttle hike along the D&R Canal and Delaware River. This is the same route as the April Apex 26 mile hike this year, and is an excellent opportunity for orientation/training for that hike. Bring lunch to eat on the trail. Meet at the Washington Crossing Parking lot on the NJ side. Take Route I-295 N/I-95 S to last exit on NJ side. Take Route 29 N to the traffic light at Washington Crossing Park and turn left.     • 8:30 a.m. WHITE CLAY CREEK STATE PARK HIKE: Depart from Broad and Arch Sts. In front of Dunkin Donuts, Philadelphia. A hike on a variety of trails including streamsides, woods, and meadows. We will hike in parts of 2 states, and cover about 14 miles or so. There will be some hills to climb as well as one stream crossing that might involve the potential for wet feet.     • 10:00 a.m. DOC'S BIKE RIDES: 35-50 miles, Class B-. Various routes from Swarthmore. Leaves from 320 Market parking lot. Probably a lunch stop. Temperatures below 45 degrees F will cancel ride. Contact Larry Green at 610-544-5799.
    • 10:00 a.m. BATONA TRAIL TO ONG'S HAT HIKE: 10 miles, moderate pace. Hike from the Ranger Station to Deep Hollow Pond and on to Ong's Hat. Lunch at Cafe Apany (formerly Anapa's) is part of this hike. Those wishing to bring their own lunch are welcome, but need to recognize that our hike will not resume until the lunch at Cafe Apany has been concluded. Or, they can elect to finish the hike on their own if they choose. Meet at Byrne Office parking lot. Bad weather cancels.
