    • 9:00 a.m. POTATO CHIP TOUR AT HERR'S BIKE RIDE: Meet for a rolling and hilly, 38 mile ride at 11-13 mph from Handloff Park (formerly Barksdale Park, at the corner of Barksdale and Casho Mill Roads). We should arrive in time for the 11:00 am tour. Watch as the warm fragrant snacks march by on conveyor belts. Then taste the samples freshly made. The ongoing, every Friday night, all year round, Friday night fitness hike; where we try to work up a sweat exploring the sand roads and trails of Brendan Byrne State Forest. Be prepared to walk at an average of 4 MPH, 15 minutes per mile pace with few breaks. Bring water and wear well broken in boots, shoes, or sneakers (sneakers are adequate in dry conditions). Socks are also important foot gear; synthetics and wool being better at preventing blisters (avoid cotton socks).     • 9:00 a.m. NEWARK FAMILY FRIENDLY BIKE RIDE: Everyone welcome, new and experienced, young and old. This is a great first club ride and an excellent opportunity to ride with your spouse, significant other and/or your kids. Depart Handloff Park (Barksdale Road in Newark) for a 10 mile ride at 8-10 mph along mostly quiet neighborhood roads and the Hall Trail. The terrain is mostly flat with some rolls in the last half of the ride. There is a point about half way that allows you to stop early and avoid the rolls if you choose.     • 9:00 a.m. LEHIGH GORGE-GLEN ONOKO TO ROCKPORT BIKE HIKE: Bike the Lehigh Gorge Trail from Glen Onoko to Rockport and return for a total of 26 miles. Helmets, lunch and water are required. Bikes should be capable of riding on packed crushed surface (street bikes not recommended). The hike will begin at the furtherest parking lot when entering Glen Onoko access point (first parking area that you come to). We will take a comfortable ride of 9-11 mph to Penn Junction, take a short break and continue on to Rockport. Meet at Lehigh Gorge State Park - Glen Onoko access point in Jim Thorpe, PA.     • 11:00 a.m. PALMYRA COVE NATURE PARK, NJ HIKE: Depart from Frankford Ave. and Bridge Sts In front of Walgreens lot, Philadelphia or meet at the starting point of the hike, Palmyra Cove Nature Center (on the NJ side of the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge) at 11:30 a.m. We will hike 6 to 8 miles depending on the tide on the river at this relatively new park. We'll ride primarily on quiet neighborhood roads or roads with good shoulders for 7-10 miles at an 8-10 mph average over mostly flat terrain – yes, there are some flat roads in Hockessin! There may be a couple of short hills. The ride will start at Lantana Square, near the recycle bins. Bring water to drink on the ride. All riders must wear helmets. Start the summer season off the right way with a semi century ride through the environs of Montgomery, Bucks, and Lehigh counties. The ride is bigger than a metric but not quite a century.
