I am blown away by the quality of the responses to our call for additional issues for the 2007 Mayor's race. Check out the comments to our original post, since I can't do them justice.
But here's very simplified version of the issues you've raised -- with the most frequently mentioned first:
Environmental issues and sustainable development
Reform of tax codes
Ethics reform, including preventing pay-to-play
Improved zoning and better planning for development (clearly connected to environmental issues)
Public funding of elections
Improving public transportation
School reform
Also mentioned:
Better funding for parks
Casinos
Term limits
Privatizing PGW, garbage collection
Any others? More comments on these?

as the next great city we need to be in the forefront on environmental issues. the next mayor will have a green policy that pushes philly in that direction. local incentives for hybrid and renewable fuel vehicles, free parking for city workers and residents who purchase renewable energy cars, renewable energy municiple fleet vehicles, building green stations in philly like the holmeburg civic assoc is doing here(http://www.greenadelphia.org/2006/09/01/who-says-the-neighborhoods-dont-get-green/#more-58),
opening up the waterfront to new development, these are the issues that wil push america back into the forefront of innovation and technology and philly could lead the weay along with wifi philly.
That, a progressive tax code and land value tax, and giving philly the authoirty to make it's own gun laws are the most important issues.
