Nutter has new statement on Ethics Agenda

Michael Nutter has put out a more detailed repsonse to the Committee of 70's Ethics Agenda, in which he says he "strongly supports the proposals" of the agenda.

Then he details his track record on ethics reform -- and challenges the other candidates to do the same.

We would be happy to post that information, candidates...please send your statement to me at this address.

He's also scheduled another screening of Shame of a City for Jan 29 at Prince Theater, for those who missed previous screenings. More info on his website:

I will establish and enforce objective, published criteria for awarding all City contracts. My administration will grant non-bid contracts as infrequently as possible – and only when there are compelling reasons to do so. Non-bid contracts will be awarded only to pre-qualified vendors based on factors such as relevant experience [and superior past performance.]*

*edit - ...based on factors such as relevant experience, superior past performance, AND COST. I understand it is my fiscal responsibility to ensure money collected from the taxpayers of this city be used wisely to obtain the best value for the best cost.

Since Nutter "strongly support[s] the proposals of the Committee of Seventy’s ETHICS AGENDA," should he get an all-caps YES on the Ethics Agenda page?

    Aardhart [TypeKey Profile Page]:

    Wendy, thanks for maintaining this.

I see that Nutter now has a Yes (but not a YES like the other candidates). I couldn't find the Daily News story from 1/4/07; all the links to this story are dead.

Based on each candidate's ethics page, I have some thoughts, hopefully constructive.

I don't think Evans should have a YES. His page quotes him as "I totally agree with their objective." It doesn't say he accepts or supports the Agenda. I would delete the YES and change his entry to:
    "Agrees with
    the Agenda's
    objective".
I would expect he would release a statement that would change it to YES shortly after a change.

Nutter's response needs to be updated since he already issued a statement. I would update it as:
    "YES;
    released statement
    on his ethics
    reform record."
I don't see any equivocation or opposition in any of his statements. I don't see disapproval in "either the language, description or details require more work."

These are based on the information on this website. I really appreciate this website's commitment to making the election more transparent.
