Is this what we want from a mayor?

There's a very good editorial in today's Daily News about Brady, Rendell, the Community College settlement and the art of fixing things in Philly.

    Read it here.

    Wendy:

What a coincidence! 124 is the number of votes that "none of the above" got in the PFT endorsement vote!

    DC:

I read this blog b/c i thought that is was supposed to be an unbiased assessment of the ins and outs of the mayor's race, but the posts over the last couple weeks have been pretty slanted against Bob Brady - especially from Wendy.

Last time I checked, we live in Pennsylvania - a state inhabited by roughly 9 million people that hate everything about Philadelphia. So if Bob Brady can manage to open the state purse strings and bring revenue to our city, I will take that any day of the week.

    Dave [TypeKey Profile Page]:

If Brady can stay in DC and get us federal funding for a new subway line I'll take that any day.

BTW, I hear the PFT endorsed city council candidates in addition to not endorsing a mayoral candidate. Is this true? Any word on who they endorsed?

I guess I don't understand what the big deal is, the community college was shut down and I couldn't go to class and Bob Brady came along and found a small amount of money that got me back to class. The state budget is like 50 billion dollars, this was a drop in the bucket. If Brady can solve problems like this we need him as Mayor. He has my vote.

    eddie:

Typical Brady - Great Job Bob! The students win and the Teachers get a better contract and Brady delivers as usual.

AS for staying in Washington -that would be Fattah's job. He is young and able to make a difference in Washington...in Philly he would really have to work and he is not up to the task.

    DC:

Please, Will Bunch also called for an investigation of Chris Webber because he is playing well after leaving the Sixers. I'm not kidding.

    sj:

does he do anything BESIDES settle strikes? Its a great talent, but I think it takes more than that to be mayor. What else has he done since becoming a congressman? Strikes only come around once a year or less. There is much more to being mayor than mediating disputes.

    Wendy:

I promise you, I have no favorite in this race. At all. Brady's in the news; the news is raising interesting issues; and that's what we're about.
