To the Mayoral Candidates:
I was at the GREEN CITY MAYORAL CANDIDATE FORUM last night listening to the candidate's talk up the virtues of a Green City.
The Horticultural Society passed out a strategy and important facts about Greening which I also saw at a GreenPlan meeting.
There is one particular environmental crime that I have written to many municipal agencies and public servants about. These have included:
Zoning, Committee of Seventy. Council Woman Donna Reed Miller, Senator Washington, Governor Rendell, , City Planning License and Inspections, the Police,. The District Attorney, Ward Leader Vernon Price, Derek Green, almost all the other council people, Dwight Evans, Board of Ethics, Internal Investigations, City Solicitor, Eva Gladstein of NTI, Cherelle Parker & DEP and others.
There has been ZERO response or responsibility taken by any of these entities.
Facts of Cover ups and environmental crimes have been collected.

Zoning approved a contaminated industrial site for residential use next to the train station of R7 Sedgwick in East Mt Airy.
Facts of contaminated dust and underground gasoline tank and the neighbors were not protected or informed.
One neighbor, myself ended up in the hospital and I am still displaced from my home many months later.
Now they are building homes on a contaminated site and trying to sell them!!
This site is next to a train station and is perfect for a green open space. The space is illegal to build residential because of former use-- but the developers are being protected by the City. The City knows this is a contaminated site and has known the effect on me and has done everything in its power to cover up their crimes.
The City is allowing a contaminated site to harm the health and welfare of the neighborhood, both past, present and future. The Water Department claims possible pollution for the water of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
This problem has GREAT potential for doing the RIGHT GREEN THING.
Every item on the Green strategy list was violated in this project and I am the one who has to pay the price by losing the ability to live in my home and ending up extremely ill and in the emergency room.
A recent issue of the Chestnut Hill Local glorified this townhouse project and named the the stake holders and former and current property owners. Are you going to protect the stake holders and abuse innocent people and cover up environmental crimes? That is exactly what is happening.
I have always admired Lyndon Baines Johnson for the fact that he wrestled with a moral conscience that made him change his mind about the war in Viet Nam and decide not to run for President for a next term. In spite of his mistakes he had a conscious. The human courage of admitting and correcting mistakes is a great virtue.
The City of Philadelphia holds clear knowledge of contamination on this site and even with this knowledge refuses to act ethically or legally.
This City has allowed and made grave mistakes in the construction and development of this vacant land and has deliberately sacrificed my life and in turn the quality of life for every citizen and neighbor.
This is a Great Political Opportunity to work out a GREEN Solution to this Environmental Crime which has been committed by this City is deliberating harming the citizens of Philadelphia.
This is also an opportunity to do some truly wonderful City Planning. This is an ideal location near a transit spot and has the potential to fulfill all the factors on the Green Strategy list.
Will you stop protecting the environmental crimes that are harming this neighborhood and do the right thing to correct a health hazard and fulfill the promises of a Green Philadelphia?
