At the request of a commenter, here's a link to this morning's Inquirer story about Tom Knox and his apparent "insider" connections. I don't really have anything to add to the article.
(Wendy would just like to add that Knox's non-insiderness has been thoroughly reported by the Daily News. The most recent example: Clout had the Fumo info two weeks ago, and we put it on the front page of this site, on the blog and had it widely commented upon.)
Most of my commentary about Knox has been about how his "outsider" image may affect the first couple years of his mayoralty. In fact, in the comments I'll reprint a comment I left on YPP a few days ago.
Consider this an open thread to discuss the "insider" part of his narrative in the comments.

Susan's comment is kind of silly, if you think about it. She goes on about staff paid for with tax dollars as an advantage over Knox, the poor outsider, when his campaign has enough money that he should be able to hire any kind of adviser he wants. Sounds like playing the "outsider card" to me.

Lets review:
1) Knox is not an outsider.
2) Knox has made a career of unscrupulous business practices.
3) Knox is buying votes with saturation advertising and free dinners.
4) Knox has never been a public servant.
5) Knox has been forced to resign from jobs due to a conflict of interest.
6) Knox made money from pay day lending.
WHAT ON EARTH MAKES THIS GUY QUALIFIED TO BE MAYOR!

Let's not forget:
1) Knox can't speak in public
2) Knox doesn't know the real issues this city faces
3) Knox is a phoney who stole Nutter's line on reform- even thogh Knox once paid to play and Nutter wrote most of the reform laws we have on the books- Philly is being duped!

Dave - awesome, just awesome! I wish a candidate had the money to simply turn your list into a script and spend a few hundred thousand dollars to put it on tv.

let's not forget:
1) owned a bank and was fined for not investing a dime in community development.
2) owned an insurance company and was fined for screwing over policy holders.
