So...a source tells us that Dwight Evans' announcement today regarding youth jobs will be this:
The state Rep. has secured $800,000 for the Philadelphia Youth Network and the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition to create 600 jobs for youth this summer.
I've argued that employment is the number-one way we can make this city safer (and more prosperous, but that's another post for another day. These programs ALWAYS have waiting lists, by the way, so there is a desire among the city's youth to not be so idle.

This why we need to keep Evans in Harrisburg. No one in Harrisburg today will step up to fill the void left by the appropriations chair.

If tells me that he's been doing this for years, I might be impressed. Legislative achievements that happen after a candidate's campaign is underway don't tend to impress me much.
I do think it's a good thing to on-board with, though.

Yes, the network of people who work on workforce development in this town -- a lovely bunch, by the way, and most of the leadership is women, for those of us keeping track of female leadership -- count Evans as a good friend, who brings checks.

It is about time somebody is thinking about the kids of philadelphia. The only way that we are going to solve our ongoing crime problem is 1. job creation 2. a well funded witness protection program 3. community involvement.
