    Fattah got the AFSCME endorsement

Today at D.C. 47 headquarters. The union represents 3,500 white collar municipal employees.

(ETA: I just got the press release from the endorsement; it's here.)

In the press release, Fattah says:

"Unions are the backbone of Philadelphia, and to receive support from one as influential as AFSCME D.C. 47 is an honor," Fattah said.

The unions, like Fattah, are lazy and don't want to work!

    GOP man:

lol... you just brought a tear to this Republican's eye.

FFR215 has an interesting post on what the candidates have said about union negotiations.

For the record, I would hesitate to back a candidate with significant union support such a short time before union contract negotiations are set to take place that could make or brake the city's budget.

    Jill:

Why am I hearing from people that AFSCME 47 leadership did not even consult with its membership about this?

    Liz:

This is more than just an ordinary union endorsement- This is the city's white collar's union. The real strory here is what promeses about wages, pensions & benefits did Fattah make in a hopefull exchange for voted.

Be warned that if Fattah gets in office he will be indebted to this union and negotiations will not be made on behalf of the taxpayers of Philly, but on behalf of this union.

If you want to see the disasterous results of this, see the Rizzo administration- who exchanged pension promises for votes back in the 70's.
